You have to be aggressive with your bluff. Bet hard but be careful not to commit more than you are willing to fold away, just in case. Aside from that, Texas holdem is a game of reading other players, so better show them that you are really confident of yourself when throwing chips on a bluff or else you will likely be called out.
The best opportunity to bluff is after the dealer dealt the flop and bet on the basis of how the flop looks. Of course it’s very possible to bluff before the flop, however, a lot of holdem players with a good hand will be hesitant to release it before the flop. After the flop has been dealt, on the other hand, even aces can be shoved out of the pot if the board comes up nasty. If that is the case you have to bet it hard.
Well, perhaps this tip is one of the hardest things to do. Don’t hesitate to fold your hand if you have a gut feel that they aren’t going to let go of their hand. Don’t let your pride get in the way and fold your hand. One of the elements in successful bluff is the ability to read your opponent, just let him stay and get out of the pot before you give more chips at him.
Getting caught bluffing can turn out to be an advantage on your part. Your opponents will tend to make more loose calls against you once caught. The thing is in holdem loose calls would mean a lot of money when you really do have a good hand.
